Habitat

The hazelnut variety grown in Piedmont is the Tonda Gentile Trilobata.

Its production is concentrated in the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria, in an area between the hills of the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato.

Harvest

In order to guarantee a high yield of fruit peeling as well as a good product quality, harvesting is recommended when the fruits are completely ripe, spontaneously detaching and falling to the ground.
Harvest period: from the end of August to the end of September, with weekly variations based on the climate of each year.
Ripe fruits in fact, have a higher weight and a lower humidity level. Given the strong tendency of fruits to absorb moisture from the ground, harvesting must be timely and carried out over several times to prevent deterioration, ensuring fruit quality.
